3/9/20-3/10/20 Decker had a great time at the 2020 American Pomeranian Club Nationals! First, he made the short cut in a large, wonderful group of 12-18 month dogs (from all over the world) in sweepstakes! Then, he placed 2nd in his class, even with my newbie mistakes! Thank you judges Charlotte Patterson and Carol Leemhuis!

2/15/20-2/16/20 Decker received all V1 ratings, earned his adult international championship (IntCH), and was  Best in Show Bred-by for 3 shows (2-judge panel), Reserve Best in Show Bred-by (2-judge panel), and toy group winner/best of breed for all 4 shows. Thank you so much to international judges Patricia Mendoza (Argentina) and Stanley Matsumoto (U.S. & Japan) and U.S. judges Gary Richards, Carol Brown, Kelly Maldon, and Sally Sklar for your wonderful comments and feedback. It was truly a pleasure.

1/30/20 Atlanta, GA Thank you judge Jon Cole for awarding Decker winner's dog, earning him another AKC point towards his championship. :)

1/26/20 Decker showed well at the Charleston, SC show (earning an AKC point) and was winner's dog, best of winners, and OHBOB! Though he did not show that well in group, he did gain some valuable experience. He saw some old friends (yeah, it was nice to see them again) and he met some new ones. Thank you so much to judge Gay Dunlap for recognizing his big qualities in a small package and giving Decker his first AKC point!!!

10/27/19 Little Decker showed wonderfully and was Reserve Best Puppy in Show (2-judge panel), two time Reserve Best Bred-by Puppy in Show (2-judge panel), 2 Toy Groups, and 2 Bred-by Toy Groups at the International show, earning the awards by two international level ranked judges! Thank you judges Juliann Bitter, William Stebbins, Nicholas Frost, and Gus Sinbaldi.
6/29/19 Jasmine won a 3-point major at the Doswell, VA show this weekend!

2/16/19-2/17/19 Little Decker went to his first dog show and showed really, really well, not to mention was a trooper for 4 shows! At only 3 months old (from the baby class), he took 4 Group 1's, 4 Bred-By Group 1's, was Reserve Best In Show Puppy twice, and was Reserve Best In Show Puppy Bred-By Exhibitor...wow...and there were some fantastic puppies at this show. We are so excited for this little guy. He made so many new friends and received all SG-1 ratings (best for a puppy) from all of the judges, with nothing, but wonderful comments. He earned his International Baby Champion and National Baby Champion titles already. Thank you so much to judges Kristen Block, Robin Hug, Camille Gagnon, Deb McKinley, and Jean Pero for your kindness and comments/critiques of this little guy. One judge commented his movement is "just beautiful, free and floating."

6/30/18-7/1/18 Jasmine received all V1 ratings, earned two more international titles (NatCH & HnrCH), and took Reserve Best in Show on 6-30-18!!! What an accomplishment. Thank you so much to Canadian Judge, Mr. Charles Bett, for awarding her the Toy Group 1 in a huge competitive group, that enabled her to move on to BIS and to International/USA Judge, Mr. William Stebbins, and USA Judge Barbara Finch, for awarding her RBIS! :)

Jasmine earned her IABCA IntCH (International) title this past weekend, was BOB in (4) shows, had a Toy Group 1 (and showed well in BIS), and (3) Toy Group 2's! At international style shows, exhibitors sit down with each judge and receive a written critique indicating how well the dog fits the breed standard. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to sit down and converse with the judges, which in my opinion, is essential for newbies! A huge thank you to International and USA Judge Juliann Bitter, and USA Judges Nicholas Frost, Larry Sorenson, Barbara Kloss, and Sioux Forsyth-Green. What a fantastic experience. :)
Jasmine was Winner's Bitch and Opposite Sex to BOB at the Asheville Show both Sat. and Sun. and OHBOB on Sun., earning 2 more points. Thank you so much Judges Cindy Vogels and Darryl Vice! She was also Winner's Bitch, and picked up another point, at the Richmond, VA show a few weeks ago. Thank you to Judge Clarke for recognizing her qualities.
Jasmine earned another AKC point at the Fletcher Show today, under Judge Bonnie Linnell Clarke (BIS judge for the day), and an OH Group 3 under International Judge Connie H. Clark. These two judges were wonderful and so kind to my little wiggle worm. Ms. Clark indicated she just returned from South Korea and judged a very large group of 57 Poms...wow.
Jasmine earned her first AKC point at the Pinehurst Show this past weekend! She was Winner's Bitch, Opposite Sex to BOB, and OHBOB, making it to the OH group. Thank you to Judge Mr. Howard Yost for taking the time to closely look over all of the dogs, getting into the coat, feeling structure, looking at face closely, watching movement closely, etc. He was very thorough, and patient with us newbies, which is much appreciated! :)

Exciting news...Zip received his first OH group placement this weekend on Sat., repeated it on Sun., earned another AKC point, and won Best Puppy in Match on Sat.! Thank you to Judges Bonnie Linnell Clarke, Joy Brewster, Maureen Day, and Geir Flyckt-Pedersen, as well as the two judges in the match (sorry, I do not have their names; they were so kind and gentle with all of the puppies :) ).  Pictures to come.
Zip won his very first AKC point in Lexington, KY this weekend! He was Winner's Dog, Best of Winners, and OH Best of Breed on both Thurs. and Fri., making it to the OH Toy Group both days. Although we did not place in the group, the opportunity did give us some valuable experience. Thank you so much to Judges Mrs. Donna Buxton and Mrs. Patricia Trotter. :)
Zip won his class and took Reserve Winner's Dog at his first show...not to mention was such a charmer! He made so many new friends; he even made it into the local paper. He was so professional even after a rough start (the poor baby got car sick on the way to the show and was pretty green for awhile), but he perked up and had a lot of fun.

Dangers for Pomeranians

Pomeranians are small and will require you to puppy proof your home. Just like a toddler, take note puppies will try to eat just about everything that will fit in their mouths. Also, do not place them where they can fall off and get injured. It is best to not allow puppies on furniture/bed until they AT LEAST 4lbs. and AT LEAST 1 year of age.

*Note: Puppies and small dogs should NEVER be left alone with children under 12 years of age. ALWAYS supervise children with animals, no matter what kind. Puppies are not unlike a newborn baby.

Did you know????

*There is no such thing as a teacup Pom!

*The merle pattern has a much higher chance of having health problems. Merles should never be bred with another merle or white/cream. Far too often backyard breeders breed merles to phantom merles (merles that do not look merle and must be genetic tested) and the result is a blind, deaf, or both blind and deaf litter of puppies.

*Blue eyes (or any speck of blue in the eyes at all) is a disqualification.

We are a very small in-home hobby show home, focusing on preservation breeding to keep the special qualities that make a Pomeranian a Pomeranian. We strive to produce happy, healthy family members first and foremost. We only offer puppies as beloved pet companions to responsible families or as show prospects for approved, experienced show homes, NOT for backyard breeding or mixed breeding! All potential homes are heavily screened and background checked. Generally, puppies go home at 10 weeks. If a puppy is on the smaller side, he/she will stay longer (usually 12-14 weeks). Show prospects usually stay with us until 16-24 weeks.

Potty Training

Potty training a puppy is much like potty training a toddler. A puppy will need to go pee-pee often and taken to the same place to go potty. This instills repetition and confidence. Puppies have very small bladders! After each meal and nap, you will need to offer the puppy a chance to relieve him/herself. If you are unable to do this due to work, school, etc., I suggest using an enclosed crate and/or pee-pee pads until you get home and continue the training. It is not uncommon for a Pom (especially a smaller one) to not fully potty train until around 6 months of age. The larger ones tend to potty train easier because they have larger bladders.

Love...love...love...pets

Do your part and do not purchase from a puppy mill or backyard breeder. These animals live horrible lives and you may end up with a mentally disturbed animal. We DO NOT sell to puppy mills or backyard/mix breeders, only approved pet/companion and approved show/hobby homes.

If buying online, We recommend you NOT wire money or use a cash service, etc. Instead, insist on paying via PayPal, which is much safer and provides a record to help protect you. Or, send a personal check (note, it will need to clear prior to receiving a puppy). There are A LOT of puppy buyer scammers as well, so we have to protect ourselves as well.

Be Choosy (and be careful); Do not get swindled!

Far too often we see VERY poorly bred Poms being sold by backyard breeders and puppy mills, sometimes for cheap prices and other times for the same price as quality bred Poms, putting bad genes into the gene pool and giving Poms a bad reputation for health issues. While affordability is always a consideration (and it should be) please, please be careful. Often times, these breeders are uneducated about the breed and are breeding already poorly bred Poms together, most times mixed with other breeds in their pedigree. A trained eye can often tell this by just a photo, but an unsuspecting family might not be able to spot this. Other breeds in the pedigree brings character flaws in the overall temperament.

**Note: If a breeder is advertising a puppy with no AKC registration papers, and it is an AKC recognized breed...RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! This will mean either 1) there is mixed breeding, health issues with the parents,  the female and/or male is/are too young to breed and the puppies cannot be registered with the AKC, or there is close in-breeding, 2) the backyard breeder is most likely a puppy mill and is breeding too often, in poor conditions and he/she does not want to be inspected, or 3) the breeder is very unethical and is under a spay/neuter contract that does not allow breeding of the pet companion male and/or female Pom that he/she just bred (often for good reason). *It is perfectly fine to supply registration papers after PROOF of spay/neuter because there are a lot of horrible, dishonest people out there.

**Do your part and do not contribute to this unethical practice. Learn as much as you can and be proactive. Together, we can improve the breed. :)
