Kira is one of our show hopefuls and is the daughter of Hope and Theo. She has only been shown a few times, but already has a major under her belt.

Dangers for Pomeranians​​

 

Pomeranians are small and will require you to puppy proof your home. Just like a toddler, take note puppies will try to eat just about everything that will fit in their mouths. Also, do not place them where they can fall off and get injured. It is best to not allow puppies on furniture/bed until they AT LEAST 4lbs. and AT LEAST 1 year of age.

*Note: Puppies and small dogs should NEVER be left alone with children under 12 years of age. ALWAYS supervise children with animals, no matter what kind. Puppies are not unlike a newborn baby.

*There is no such thing as a teacup Pom!

*The merle pattern has a much higher chance of having health problems. Merles should never be bred with another merle or white/cream. Far too often backyard breeders breed merles to phantom merles (merles that do not look merle and must be genetic tested) and the result is a blind, deaf, or both blind and deaf litter of puppies. 

​

*Blue eyes (or any speck of blue in the eyes at all) is a disqualification. 

​

We are a very small in-home hobby show home, focusing on preservation breeding to keep the special qualities that make a Pomeranian a Pomeranian. We strive to produce happy, healthy family members first and foremost. We only offer puppies as beloved pet companions to responsible families or as show prospects for approved, experienced show homes, NOT for backyard breeding or mixed breeding! All potential homes are heavily screened and background checked. Generally, puppies go home at 10 weeks. If a puppy is on the smaller side, he/she will stay longer (usually 12-14 weeks). Show prospects usually stay with us until 16-24 weeks.

 

 

 

 

Potty Training​​

 

Potty training a puppy is much like potty training a toddler. A puppy will need to go pee-pee often and taken to the same place to go potty. This instills repetition and confidence. Puppies have very small bladders! After each meal and nap, you will need to offer the puppy a chance to relieve him/herself. If you are unable to do this due to work, school, etc., I suggest using an enclosed crate and/or pee-pee pads until you get home and continue the training. It is not uncommon for a Pom (especially a smaller one) to not fully potty train until around 6 months of age. The larger ones tend to potty train easier because they have larger bladders.

​Love...love...love...pets​

 

Do your part and do not purchase from a puppy mill or backyard breeder. These animals live horrible lives and you may end up with a mentally disturbed animal. We DO NOT sell to puppy mills or backyard/mix breeders, only approved pet/companion and approved show/hobby homes.

If buying online, We recommend you NOT wire money or use a cash service, etc. Instead, insist on paying via PayPal, which is much safer and provides a record to help protect you. Or, send a personal check (note, it will need to clear prior to receiving a puppy). There are A LOT of puppy buyer scammers as well, so we have to protect ourselves as well.

Be Choosy (and be careful); Do not get swindled!

​

Far too often we see VERY poorly bred Poms being sold by backyard breeders and puppy mills, sometimes for cheap prices and other times for the same price as quality bred Poms, putting bad genes into the gene pool and giving Poms a bad reputation for health issues. While affordability is always a consideration (and it should be) please, please be careful. Often times, these breeders are uneducated about the breed and are breeding already poorly bred Poms together, most times mixed with other breeds in their pedigree. A trained eye can often tell this by just a photo, but an unsuspecting family might not be able to spot this. Other breeds in the pedigree brings character flaws in the overall temperament.

**Note: If a breeder is advertising a puppy with no AKC registration papers, and it is an AKC recognized breed...RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! This will mean either 1) there is mixed breeding, health issues with the parents,  the female and/or male is/are too young to breed and the puppies cannot be registered with the AKC, or there is close in-breeding, 2) the backyard breeder is most likely a puppy mill and is breeding too often, in poor conditions and he/she does not want to be inspected, or 3) the breeder is very unethical and is under a spay/neuter contract that does not allow breeding of the pet companion male and/or female Pom that he/she just bred (often for good reason). *It is perfectly fine to supply registration papers after PROOF of spay/neuter because there are a lot of horrible, dishonest people out there. 

 

**Do your part and do not contribute to this unethical practice. Learn as much as you can and be proactive. Together, we can improve the breed. :)
